What is Manent?

Reference page — updated July 7, 2026

Manent is a Quebec (Canada) service that turns the technical documentation of a manufacturer or equipment operator — PDF manuals, Word procedures, presentations, paper scans — into a troubleshooting assistant for its technicians, trainers and dealers. The defining feature of the product: every answer cites its exact source — the file, the section and the page — and when a case falls outside what is documented, the assistant says so and points you to your expert.

Why this name?

"Manent" comes from the Latin phrase "Verba volant, scripta manent"spoken words fly away, written words remain. That is exactly what the product does: an experienced technician's knowledge flies away when they leave the company; Manent makes it remain, by keeping it searchable and always tied to its source. The name isn't decorative — manent ("they remain") is the heart of the promise.

Who is it for?

Industrial and agricultural SMEs with years of accumulated documentation — often messy, with duplicates, several versions of the same manual and old scans — and field teams that lose time hunting for the right page or calling support for questions that are already documented.

How does it work?

  1. Drop off the files as-is: each file gets a status (processable, scan to digitize, duplicate, unsupported) — nothing is silently ignored. Digitizing scans is priced up front, with an exact quote before any spending.
  2. Guided decisions: the client resolves ambiguities one question at a time (which version is authoritative, whether to include documents containing personal contact details, whether to authorize digitization). Everything is reversible and logged.
  3. Ask questions: teams ask their questions on the web or mobile. Unanswered questions become knowledge cards written by the technician, validated by a client expert before publication — the documentation keeps improving.
Verifiable fact: on a real client corpus of 107 documents (457 MB), 95% of excerpts are tied to their exact section of the manual, and the AI-readiness score rose from 79 to 88 out of 100 after two preparation passes.

What sets Manent apart from a generalist AI assistant?

Each of these choices maps to a documented principle — published research, public methodology or legal framework. The full map, module by module: Manent is built on science.

Who is behind Manent?

David Leclair, founder, built Manent from a field observation: technicians don't lack information — it sits dormant in binders of PDFs no one has time to dig through, and the answers to recurring breakdowns get passed on by word of mouth. The product is developed and proven on the real documentation of a Quebec agricultural-equipment manufacturer — a complete corpus of 107 documents — before being offered more widely.
